Did Trump's tax cuts help or hurt you this year? Tell us.
I remember one of the rowdiest, strangest parties I ever saw was a bunch of very buttoned-up, suit-wearing people sloshing drinks on each other and practically dancing on the tables next to me at a restaurant in Portland, Oregon.
It took me a few minutes to realize they were accountants and it was April 16, a day after tax day.
So how are you feeling after filing your taxes? Did President Donald Trump's promised "biggest tax refund season ever" have you dancing on the table? Republican tax cuts ‒ including on tips and overtime ‒ are supposed to have increased average tax refunds by $1,000. Does your refund track with that? Or was it less? Or worse, do you owe money to the U.S. Treasury?
Maybe you haven't filed yet because, ah-hem, like some people I know (looking at myself), you procrastinated and got an extension to Oct. 15. (I am sure there is a deduction somewhere in the tax code for supporting local breweries, and I'm going to find it.)
Refunds are, of course, not the same thing as your total tax bill, and therefore not actually the true measure of how much you pay in taxes. But they can still have a big effect on a household budget.

How did you fare this tax year? Did you get a much bigger refund?
How was your tax bill overall?
Do you think Trump's tax policies helped you? And the country?
Also, any thoughts on the process of tax preparation? (Which, apparently, could have been much easier – and free – but for Trump killing the Direct File program.)
